Rick Allen

A native of Los Angeles, Rick Allen is a blues, rock, and R&B organist and pianist. He has worked with a variety of musicians, including Howlin’ Wolf, Etta James, Delaney & Bonnie, Sonny Boy Williamson, Albert King, and Dr. John. Allen toured with Bonnie Bramlett, Loggins & Messina, The Doobie Brothers, Canned Heat, Rory Gallagher, Rod Stewart, The Beach Boys, and many others. Relocating to New Orleans in the ’80s, Allen worked in blues clubs, playing and recording with an assortment of blues and cajun performers, including Ernie K-Doe, King Floyd, Marcia Ball, and Freddy Fender. In the 1980s, he began doing studio work at Allen Toussaint’s Sea Saint Studios, and in 2000, Allen was nominated for a Grammy with The Dukes of Dixieland, for the album, Gloryland.
